About The Artwork

The 2026 Bay of Fires Art Prize invited artists to respond to the theme Everyday Miracles.

Each morning at a sandy coffee shop by the sea, thick monsoon cloud diffused the sunlight. Sky, ocean and sand blended into one canvas with silvery threads rippling.

Some days the sea was so still the world seemed to shrink. It felt like one could step out into the golden corridor and walk. And there I was, part of it all.

The work is constructed through layered textile fragments and elongated organic shapes combining block colour and texture to reflect the shimmer and complexity of travel and belonging. Fabric acts as a maternal thread, linking memory, place and pattern.
