About The Studio

Unratio is the studio of Australian artist and writer Isa June, creating hand-drawn coastal and botanical artworks and written reflections that explore light, landscape and belonging.

Origins

Unratio began when I packed my life into a suitcase and moved to an island further south than my childhood, by a sea and mountains more wild. I went to start again and found, in nature and art, a way back to myself.

Practice & Process

From a quiet sunlit place, I create bold abstracts, shaped by the poetic beauty of shorelines and garden paths, exploring the pull between belonging and wandering.

I’m drawn to the edges and transient thresholds, where wild meets tended, where memory becomes art, where childhood fades into womanhood and loops around again.

My work is rebelliously hand-drawn. Each line is shaped by observation, feminine reflection, and a belief that what we create must come from within.

My art and writing meet like tide and shore, both tracing the same terrain of beauty, transience, and becoming.

My work moves between abstraction and realism, bright, calm, and joyful yet grounded in quiet introspection. Water, reflections, and botanicals often appear, along with shorelines, garden paths and silhouettes that mark the meeting of nature and memory.

When faced with change or uncertainty, I return to the natural world its rhythm, its light, its untamed grace. There I find the same lessons that fill my page: transience, renewal, hope and colour.
