Client Brief

Farrah discovered my work online and was drawn to my depictions of water and landscape, particularly the ripples, reflected colour and the way figures become part of their surroundings. With the lake so central to Lake I Love You, she wanted the cover to capture both the relationship between the central characters and their connection to the landscape.

She shared a selection of my existing artworks that resonated with her, along with detailed descriptions of the characters and setting. We used these references to build a shared vision for the cover, bring her story together with my approach to colour, water and place.

The Artwork

Set in the fictional town of Dearing Creek, Lake I Love You follows Lizzie as she returns to a family lake cabin and begins rebuilding her life. The story brings together love, loss and the possibility of a fresh start, with the lake at the heart of its world.

I wanted the artwork to capture that sense of place as much as the romance between the characters. The summer setting lent itself naturally to my soft, warm pastel palette, giving the scene a feeling of warmth, intimacy and nostalgia.

Can I Commission Illustrated Artwork For a Romance Book or Series?

Yes. I create bespoke, hand-drawn book cover artwork for stories where landscape, water and a strong sense of place are central. I'm particularly drawn to covers where the setting carries emotional weight, allowing characters to feel immersed in the landscape rather than simply placed against it.

If you're looking for original cover artwork that brings together people, place, atmosphere and colour, you can explore my book cover illustration work here.
