I knew petunia in rows and balcony pots. These were riotous, cascading, spherical and glorious.

My high school friend, grew petunia in rectangle planters when we moved out of home together. She with her glory box and I with a head full of first year philosophy. Soft and delicate.

Yet here was dense unapologetic suspension of colour. Far more complex and robust.

Deep violet petunias edged in soft white, high contrast blooms in a compact hanging basket against a light wall background
Yellow petunias glowing against a warm ochre wall, trailing flowers in a hanging basket with tropical foliage beneath
Trailing pale blush petunias with fine pink veining, delicate trumpet flowers cascading in soft natural light, street scene
Hanging baskets of pink, purple and red petunias overflowing above a shopfront, dense cascading blooms in a narrow laneway
White petunias with deep pink veining hanging beside traditional silk lanterns, layered colour and texture in Hoi An streetscape Vietnam
Close view of pale pink petunias with vivid magenta veins, abundant clustered blooms spilling from a hanging basket against a yellow wall
Vibrant purple petunias in full bloom, dense cluster of velvety flowers with deep centres, spilling from a hanging basket outdoors
Large spherical hanging basket of pale lilac petunias with dark centres, suspended indoors above wooden seating, soft filtered light
