Artist Statement
This pencil drawing is inspired by a visit to Chiang Khan in Thailand. Set on the banks of the Mekong river is a quaint historic village. Preserved with old charm, it offers a glimpse into the past. The teak shop houses have these radiating suns ornately carved in the wood and bright colourful star shaped lanterns hang on the walls. Colourful flower gardens blossom along the river bank and locals ride bikes up and down the streets.
Journey through a tropical landscape of soft pastels, sumptuous sunsets, and gorgeous flora with Tropical Haze. This collection of floral daydreams is inspired by the pictures drawn in my artist sketchbook, while backpacking through Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. Each artwork is digitally brought to life with a vibrant, chalky coloured-pencil aesthetic. Savouring, slowing down, and softening your spirit, the illustrations of Tropical Haze ignite wanderlust, whimsy, and joy.
