Unratio began on the coastal fringe

I create exclusive, hand-drawn book covers for authors who want their stories wrapped in light, place, and art that stands apart.

I specialise in narrative landscapes, character driven scenes and poetic abstracts, using striking colour and a romantic tone. Water, reflections, and botanicals often feature in my work, which balances abstraction and realism with the depth of fine art. 

From walls to books

I began making wall art. Over the past six years, my work has reached a global audience of more than 7,000 collectors, been licensed internationally, exhibited in boutique galleries, and even featured as a large-scale public installation at an Australian school.

I came to realise that abstraction can hold a story without telling it outright. This is the power of colour, shape, and line: to say what words cannot, to speak universally yet remain deeply personal. That discovery led me to the world of book cover art.

On an island, far from the cities, where time moved slower and the light carried more weight. 

I was trying to hold a feeling, of the fullness of life. 

As if I could be swept into one glorious moment of possibility and joy. 

That's the pulse beneath everything I create. 

I call this world the Bright Quiet

Hand drawn philosophy

Unratio is a hand drawn art studio inspired by the emotion of sun-drenched places, layered nostalgia, and the wild beauty of nature's edges.

I am an independent artist who believes in thoughtful, slow creation. 

I feel a bit rebellious about this. Mostly because I believe that what I have to share must come from within and this requires space and time. 

I don’t use templates, stock images or AI-generated artwork.  I am not anti AI. I do use new tools in my workflow.  But I firmly believe in cultivating my own artistic voice and honouring the role of active creator.  In a world of speed, automation and mass production, I choose to step outside the noise and create work that begins from that still sunlit place.  

Individuality will always be valuable

My focus is on listening to your story and creating a cover that signals to the world: this book is special, something worth slowing down for.

My style

My work is bright, calm and joyful with a strong tinge of feminine reflection. 

Watching my daughters play by the sea reminded me that life's beauty lies in its simplest forms. Such joy to be found playing in rock pools until sunset. 

In 2018, I began distilling these scenes into abstract forms. Translating this simple wonder into flowing organic hand drawn shapes. My canvas filled with carefree imagination and a childlike radiant perspective universally understood. For this reason, many find that my work evokes their own memories. 

My studio name, reflects my approach: breaking away from traditional proportions to create something uniquely expressive. 

Enamoured with nature

My work holds a duality; bold, bright and future facing. Yet poetic and grounded in quiet reflection. Themes of motherhood, memory, change and solitude run through my art. 

To cope with pressure, uncertainty or grief, I return to nature for its rhythm and healing presence. 

Naturally, my work began to explore this relationship, offering visual spaces where other might find their own kind of stillness.
